TOKYO - Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Corporation (Toshiba) today announced the launch of an integrated dual H-bridge brush DC motor driver IC with an output current limiter rated at 50V/3.0 A. This new TB67H401FTG device can be used in office equipment, ATM, household appliances, sweeping robots and other applications that need monitoring and feedback motor status - these devices often use brush DC motors and are more and more popular in recent years.
Up to now, brushless DC motor has been through limiting the upper limit of motor current, that is, through constant current limit to achieve safety control. Overcurrent overcurrent is usually generated by motor blockage, which is read from external resistors through external circuits, operational amplifiers and comparators, thus increasing the number of components and circuit complexity.
The highly integrated TB67H401FTG is manufactured by Toshiba BiCD process and equipped with built-in label output circuit to detect current status and provide instructions when the upper threshold is reached. Therefore, no external circuit is needed, and a more compact and efficient motor solution can be realized, while reducing the bill of materials cost.
TB67H401FTG supports four driving modes: forward (CW), reverse (CCW), brake (short circuit brake) and stop (OFF). It also includes a mode switching function, thus effectively expanding the scope of application. Single bridge mode supports up to 6.0 A single channel current, while dual bridge mode can use two motors, each IC driving up to 3.0 A motor.
Low on-resistance MOSFET is integrated in H bridge (the sum of high and low sides = 0.49 typical value), which achieves low loss and high efficiency operation. The internal regulator supports the device to be driven by a single power supply.
The device is packaged in 7mm x 7mm x 0.9mm QFN48, which supports overheat protection, overcurrent protection and undervoltage locking. Universal error detection signal can provide warning to the main system controller, thus improving the security of the system.
TB67H401FTG has been produced in batches.
Application occasion
Applications where motor drive status and feedback results need to be monitored - office equipment and industrial equipment such as ATM, household appliances and sweeping robots.
main features
Markup Output Function
The label output function outputs the current limiting test results to external devices. It helps to reduce the number of external amplifiers and comparators.
Mode switching function (single bridge mode and double bridge mode)
Single bridge mode supports high load drive (6.0 A high current drive). The dual bridge mode supports a single IC (3.0 A/2 channel) to drive two motors. To achieve a wider range of applications.
Other Error Detection Functions
Overheat protection detection, overcurrent protection detection and undervoltage locking detection. Error detection signals can be output to external devices to effectively improve security.
